I put a few more versions above to make it clear that in this passage, God is saying the same thing He tells us in other passages like Proverbs 3:5-6, Proverbs 16:9, Proverbs 19:21, and Proverbs 21:1. All of which I’ve written about and all of which tell us that God has a plan for our lives and He directs our lives to fulfill His plan. There is no free will.
There is no one who ever lived who went through their entire life not fulfilling God’s plan for them. If there ever has been someone, then the passage above and the others I listed are lies.
I’m sure there will be many questions we have that will be answered once we get to glory but in the meantime, whether it makes sense or not, you must believe God’s holy, inspired, infallible, inerrant Word.

God directs our steps and no one can understand their way, nor anyone else’s.
