Bible Truth #280 - Isaiah 49:5-6

5  And now the LORD says— he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the LORD and my God has been my strength—
6  he says: "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth."

Here Isaiah writes that the Lord formed him in his mothers womb to be His servant... Where was Isaiah’s free will? Did God make Isaiah to be an automaton, a puppet to do his bidding during the course of his life? Of course not. God does not enter into relationships with robots, puppets, or automatons. However, it doesn’t change the fact that God created Isaiah to be His prophet and servant - to work His Will and plan among the people of Israel. (Lamentations 2:17, Ephesians 1:11)

Isaiah was chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4) to be numbered among the Elect of God, just as we modern-day Christians were. God chose him and Isaiah didn’t have a choice, neither do we. God is immutable - He does not change. The way He did things thousands of years ago is the same way He does them today. The point in eternity He chose Isaiah He also chose His Elect and gave them to Jesus. And those the Father has given to Jesus WILL come to Him (John 6:37), no ifs, ands, buts, or excepts.

And to top that off, Jesus raises up EVERY man God draws (John 6:44), NOT every man who accepts the drawing.
