Bible Truth #107 - Isaiah 46:10-11

10  I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.
11  From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do.

His plan was, and is, to save ALL those He chose in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). He has OBTAINED salvation for His Elect (Hebrews 9:12). His plan is NOT to make salvation “available” to all men as some erroneously believe. It is NOT to give men the ability to choose righteousness or to seek God. Yes, the Arminian can try to change my mind on those points by showing me Scripture that reflects that. Of course what is shown me must not contradict other verses in the Bible. I just don’t see anywhere in Scripture where Jesus died for anyone God hates, and He hates the workers of iniquity (Psalm 5:5), He hates the wicked and those who love violence (Psalm 11:5), He hates liars (Proverbs 6:19), He hated Esau (Malachi 1:3) - and these are just a start. There are a number of other kinds of people He hates, i.e. abortion doctors (Proverbs 6:16-17).

Humanly speaking I simply cannot understand how anyone can believe that there are people in Hell for whom Jesus died. If a man can say no to a Sovereign God, then God is not sovereign. But because I live by faith and accept God’s Word, I DO understand why people believe what they do - it is God working in us to believe what He wants us to believe - the lost, the Arminians, the Calvinists. (Proverbs 16:9, Philippians 2:13)

Bottom Line - Jesus will lose NONE of those the Father has given to Him (John 6:39), THAT is His plan. And what He has planned, THAT He WILL do (Isaiah 46:11). Those chosen were given to Jesus and placed in Him BEFORE the foundation of the world, Jesus died for them and them alone. That is the “L” in T.U.L.I.P. (the 5 points of Calvinism) - Limited Atonement.

Ah yes, Limited Atonement. Whether he will admit it or not, the Arminian and I both believe in Limited Atonement - the Arminian believes it is limited by men (those who choose to believe), I believe it is limited by God (those He chose in Christ before the foundation of the World).

Bottom Line: What God has planned, He WILL do - and in fact, has already done it.
