Bible Truth #52 - Psalm 33:13-15,21

13  From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind;
14  from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-
15  he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.
...
21  In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.

I included verses 13 and 14 for context but I wanted to focus on 15 and 21. God formed the hearts of ALL, period. Then look at verse 21, our hearts rejoice in Him.

God formed OUR hearts to rejoice in Him - God formed the heart of those not chosen to NOT rejoice in Him. Man can’t change his heart any more than the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots (Jeremiah 13:23), or than the soil can change its fertility (Matthew 13:3-9), only God can change hearts. And He DOES change the heart of His Elect and make us believe (John 6:29).

We become children of God NOT by human decision (John 1:13). No Arminian I’ve talked to has ever been able to refute that passage. The best they’ve been able to say is that the verse immediately preceding states “But as many as received him...” (v12) [in effect] “...See, we have to receive Him.” Sorry, before something can be received it has to be given, and God did NOT give the gift of salvation to everyone. He gives it only to His Elect, those chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). And when it is given, the man chosen receives it, period. He can't reject it any more than Lazarus could have rejected the call of Jesus to come out of the tomb. (John 11:43)

God forms the hearts of each and every man but He forms only some to rejoice and trust Him.
