Bible Truth #72 - Hebrews 9:15

Hebrews 9:15
For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

Consider the following dialogue with a believer who claims to believe in God’s sovereignty...

Wow! So obvious! If you don’t see that, you are blind to the Truth and it is because God that has not yet given you eyes to see (Deuteronomy 29:4). Read it again “...that those who are called...”
Who??
Those who are called.
Not everybody?
NO, not everybody! Only those who are called.
Not ALL?
NO, not ALL! Only those who are called.
Well, I just can’t believe that.
I know, God has to give you a mind that understands and a heart that perceives. Ask Him. Ask Him to show you the Truth. The verse above is clear that God does not call everyone. “Those who are called..."

Then it goes on and says that He (Jesus) died as a ransom to set THEM free.
Who??
“Them,” a specific group - i.e. those who are called. Grammatically speaking, the object of “those who are called” in the first part of the verse.
Well God CALLS everybody to repent.
No, He COMMANDS all men everywhere to repent. But if you want to consider call and command the same, for the purpose of this message, OK, I agree, but He does not call everyone to salvation. There are two calls. The General call to everyone to repent (Acts 17:30), and the call to salvation of His Elect (Romans 8:30) - those chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). Because those people, that specific group, He called, and those He called He Justified, and those He justified He glorified. Every,
E-V-E-R-YEVERY one of those He called He glorified, i.e. saved (Romans 8:30). This verse also makes clear the Limited Atonement the Bible speaks of. For WHOM did Jesus die? “He died as a ransom to set THEM free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” He did NOT die to set ALL free from their sins. Nor does it say here or anywhere else that He died to make this ransom “available” for all, or even for the Elect. The ransom was paid, period.
Well, I just can’t believe that.
I know, and it’s sad - and a shame that some don’t believe what the Bible clearly and succinctly states over and over. Shame for you, but glory to God. God has to give you a mind that understands and a heart that perceives the doctrine of Election. (Romans 9:11)
