Bible Truth #73 - Jeremiah 18:6

“O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does?” declares the LORD. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.

The Lord does what He wants with Israel, they are His chosen people.

He also does what He wants with those He chose in Christ before the foundation of the world, His Elect (Ephesians 1:4).  That is the principle established in the above verse, and many others (Psalm 57:2138:8).

And He does what He wants with those He did NOT choose.  He is the Potter, we are the clay.  The lump of clay will NOT say to the Potter, “Make me into a beautiful vase,” when the Potter has in mind to make a pot for carrying fecal fertilizer for the fields.  If a man is chosen, he WILL come to Christ (John 6:37).  If another man is NOT chosen, there is nothing he can do, God is NOT going to call him to salvation. He will never stop hating God (John 3:20) and loving death (Proverbs 8:36).

Want to see it in the New Testament?  This principle, not a concept, but a principle, is also found in Romans 9:20-21  AND  Philippians 2:13.
