Bible Truth #57 - John 6:45

It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.

Who is the “all” the Prophets and Jesus write/talk of? Answer - It is the church, the Bride of Christ, the Elect of God, those chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world. (Ephesians 1:4)

How did I come up with that? Well first of all it wasn’t me, it was the Holy Spirit. Second - a man who was not chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world will not be taught of God, because he can not “hear” God, he is of his father the devil and can’t understand (John 8:43-44), he hates God (John 3:20), he is enmity with God and can NOT please God (Romans 8:7-8). So everyone who listens to the Father and learns from Him, i.e. the Elect, “comes to me.” It WILL occur. Jesus did not say that everyone who listens to the Father and learns from Him has a choice. Jesus said EVERYONE who listens to the Father and learns from Him COMES TO ME, period. No ifs, ands, buts, or excepts. Every single one comes to me, every single one. This is the same thing Jesus said in John 6:37, ALL (GREEK - pas) those the Father has given me (a specific group), WILL come to me. The giving by the Father precedes the coming to the Son.

Would a lost man who listens (connoting understanding), please God? Absolutely! Would a lost woman who learns from the Father, please God? For sure! That’s how you should know it is IMPOSSIBLE for either to do so because Romans 8:8 says that the lost man/woman, they that are in the flesh, can NOT please God (Bible Truth #7). That’s why God has to save them FIRST! And He saves only those whom He chose and put in Christ before the foundation of the world.

We become children of God NOT by human decision, or the “will of the flesh” if you use the King James version (John 1:13). A lot of Christians just can’t see that for what it says. I KNOW why - the answer is found in Philippians 2:13, but these Christians (Arminians) are still accountable to God for not believing His Word - just as the lost are still accountable for rejecting the Truth - the Truth they can’t understand because they don’t have the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:14)
