Bible Truth #95 - Psalm 33:10-11

Psalm 33:10-11
10  The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
11  But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

The plans of the Lord stand firm forever which means they don’t change. Since we were chosen in Him before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4), it was His plan to save us. That’s why Jesus said in John 6:37 those given to Him WILL come to Him. That’s why in his heart a man may plan his course but the Lord determines his steps (Proverbs 16:9). He would have to, if He didn’t determine a man’s steps, the creature might thwart the Creator’s plans... and that “AIN’T” a gonna happen. (Bad grammar but good teachin’)

According to verse 10, God thwarts the purposes (plans) of the peoples. That goes against the theory of Arminianism and free will, does it not? It is the purpose of every man that hates God to reject Him. The lost man loves the darkness (John 3:19), loves death (Proverbs 8:36) and hates the Light. It is his intention to never come unto it (John 3:20). But it is God’s plan to thwart the purposes of His Elect while they are in their unregenerate state. He is going to grant them faith (Romans 12:3; Ephesians 2:8) and quicken their dead spirit. God then gives them belief (John 6:29; Philippians 1:29), and repentance (2 Timothy 2:25). And God's plans stand firm forever.

Bottom Line - God has a plan for everyone’s life and nothing will change His plan, and that plan is the salvation and repentance (2 Peter 3:9) for His Elect and ONLY His Elect.
