Bible Truth #48 - Isaiah 53:11

After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.

Jesus will justify many (Strong’s H7227), and bear the iniquities of many - Not all, not the whole world, not every human who ever lived, but many. He suffered and justified many men. If He suffered and justified every human who lived or will live, then He failed because there are people in Hell He presumedly justified. BUT, since Jesus did not fail, and Jesus did not lie, and since the Bible clearly says in the Old Testament (Isaiah 53:11) and the New Testament (Matthew 20:28, Mark 14:24) that He gave His life as a ransom for many, that's what it means - MANY men, not all men. And He shall bear THEIR iniquities, not the iniquities of every human who lived or will live. i.e. ALL.

This would be the “L” in T.U.L.I.P - Limited Atonement. Jesus did not die for everyone, He died for His Elect. Since Christ was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8), the Elect of God had to have been chosen and placed in Christ also before the foundation of the world, and we were (Ephesians 1:4).

Those who believe in decisional salvation will not agree to Limited Atonement but the fact of the matter is they DO believe in Limited Atonement. The difference between what they believe and what the Bible teaches is that they believe the atonement of Christ is limited by man himself. It is limited to those who choose to believe. Once again they insert the creature into playing a part in the work of the Creator alone.

We become children of God NOT by the will of the flesh. (John 1:13)
