Bible Truth #85 - Romans 1:7

To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

NOT to all in Rome, but to all in Rome who are loved by God AND called to be saints. Those loved by God and those called to be saints is the same group of people. Paul is NOT writing to every human in Rome. Most in Rome were hated by God. Obviously all aren’t called to be saints so this is an example of a life application of Psalm 5:5 and Psalm 11:5. There ARE those whom God does not love and whom He actually hates. But, that’s another topic which was covered extensively in Bible Truth #66.

The point is that there ARE those whom God loves and whom He called to be saints. Paul was writing this letter to believers, the church in Rome. And these, as he writes, are CALLED to be saints. Paul is not writing to everyone in Rome, but ONLY those who are loved by God and called to be saints - and of course, future believers, you and I. That is the clear reason God had this letter recorded and preserved. Because we too have been called, and those whom He calls He justifies, and those He justifies He glorifies (Romans 8:30), EVERY SINGLE ONE. God does not call a man and NOT glorify him so please do not suggest that God calls everyone but most reject the call, that is not Biblical. The command for everyone everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30) is NOT the Call to salvation.

God does not draw everyone. How do I know? Because Jesus said He raises up EVERY man God draws (John 6:44).

The Truth may hurt, but just accept God’s Word and believe, and God will provide the salve for the soul!
