“I will feed My flock and I will lead them to rest,” declares the Lord GOD. (NASB)
I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD. (KJV)
I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD. (NIV)
Regardless of which version you want to go with, the Shepherd (God) WILL do something with His sheep (His people). He WILL lead them to rest whether the sheep want to go or not, He WILL cause them to lie down, whether the sheep want to lie down or not. But you know what? The sheep WILL follow their shepherd willingly and WILL lie down willingly because it’s their nature. Just as it is the nature of a lost man to love darkness and hate God and never come into the Light (John 3:19-20), it is the nature of a saved man to willingly obey God, please God, believe God, understand Words from God, and praise God. Just as the sheep do not have a choice, neither do His people.
A lost man can’t change his nature and believe any more than a sheep can follow a stranger (John 10:5). And to a lost man, Christ is a stranger!
