Bible Truth #251 - Revelation 17:17

For God has put it in their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to give the beast their power to rule, until God's words are fulfilled.

How many times in my life have I heard the words God is immutable? I don’t know but it has probably been well over several dozen times.

The fact of the matter is that that statement is absolutely 100% correct. God is unchangeable, immutable. He works His will in the lives of people today the same way He did thousands of years ago and the same way He will in the future. Verse 17 above proves it. God will put it into the hearts (minds) of the lost people of the world what He desires to occur, and that is His purpose. This is nothing more than prophesy that supports verses like Philippians 2:13 which states it is God working in us to think and act according to His good pleasure. He puts into our minds (hearts) what He wants us to do, then we do it. It’s that simple.

It is not just Christians in whom He works in this way. He directs the steps of EVERY man (Proverbs 16:9, 19:21, 20:24; Jeremiah 10:23, 29:11), past, present, and future (Revelation 17:17). So regarding the passage above, does anyone think that these people will have a choice? NO! God will put His purpose in their heart so they WILL agree to give the Beast (Antichrist) the power to rule over the world.

He put into the minds (hearts) of Joseph’s brothers to sell him into slavery (Genesis 50:20), He put it into the mind (heart) of Judas to betray Jesus (Acts 2:23), and He put it into the minds (hearts) of the Pharisees and Pontius Pilate to crucify our Savior (Acts 4:28). God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is sovereign and He gets His way, always. His Word will ALWAYS accomplish that which He has purposed (Isaiah 55:11).

If God wanted the whole world saved, it would happen. If God wanted every human ever born of a woman to be saved, it would happen. If God wanted His Elect to be saved (and He does), we WILL be saved and we WILL come to Christ (John 6:37) for He is not willing that ANY of His Elect perish (2 Peter 3:9). God is sovereign and He works out EVERYTHING to conform with HIS purpose (Ephesians 1:11) and one of His many purposes is to save each and every soul He has chosen and numbered among His Elect.

PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!!!
