How did Paul know? How could he say that God has chosen them?
Answer - verse 5, Paul could see the Holy Spirit working, he could see His power in them. He could see the results of the deep conviction because only the Holy Spirit convicts. THAT’S how he knew they were chosen, because he knew that the Holy Spirit works ONLY among those whom God has chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). Bottom line - We become children of God NOT by human decision. (John 1:13)
