Bible Truth #196 - Proverbs 17:11

Proverbs 17:11
An evil man is bent only on rebellion; a merciless official will be sent against him.

Who is an “evil man” to whom the writer is referring? An evil man is a lost man. Just as Genesis 6:5 states that every thought of the lost man is ONLY evil continually, here Solomon confirms it.

Bible Truth #195 also brought up the differences between an evil man and a good man - and I gave several reasons why a lost man IS an evil man. And regarding this verse - there are no exceptions, a lost man seeks, desires, demands, rebellion.

Now tell me, how can a lost man, a man who is bent ONLY on rebellion, how can he “accept” Jesus as his Savior? How can he believe? How can he repent? How can he please God?

It is my contention that he can’t, therefore proving we become children of God NOT by human decision. (John 1:13)
