Bible Truth #236 - Romans 1:9-10

9  God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you
10  in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God’s will the way may be opened for me to come to you.

Paul wanted to go to Rome and minister to the Christians there. He wanted to preach the Gospel there. The Arminian will say all of that was his “free will” when it was actually God working in him to to WILL and to do according to His (God’s) good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). God put the desire in Paul to go to Rome. But even though Paul wanted to head for Rome, what kept him from going?

It was God’s Will that kept him from going at that point in time, and then later when he DID go, that was also God’s Will. I’m sure it was Paul’s will that he not go in chains as a prisoner but he didn’t care, he was going AND he knew that God was in control of when and how he would go.

Once again the Bible clearly covers how God’s Will IS being done on earth, as it IS being done in Heaven (Bible Truth #135). God works out EVERYTHING in conformity with His Will, there are no exceptions (Ephesians 1:11).
