Bible Truth #218 - 2 Corinthians 2:12-13

12  Now when I went to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and found that the Lord had opened a door for me,
13  I still had no peace of mind, because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I said good-by to them and went on to Macedonia.

Here is an example of the Lord opening a door for Paul to preach the Gospel at a specific location as compared to other places where the Holy Spirit had prevented it.  Please consider once more why God would open doors for the preaching of the Gospel in Troas but prevent Paul from preaching in the Province of Asia, Mysia, and Bithynia (Acts 16:6-7 - Bible Truth #127).  Why would God prevent Paul from preaching in some places but open doors in others?  Why do you think that is?

Answer - Because God is sovereign and because He has already selected a bride for His Son.  Without God working in a situation, i.e. by opening the heart of specific people as He did with Lydia (Acts 16:14), or by simply NOT opening a door for Paul to preach, He sovereignly acts in every circumstance and situation to KEEP LOST PEOPLE LOST or to SAVE those He chose in Christ before the foundation of the World. (Ephesians 1:4)

We become children of God not by HUMAN decision (John 1:13).
