Bible Truth #188 - Psalm 57:2

Psalm 57:2
I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills his purpose for me.

Need I even have to explain this one? It is simply another way of stating the obvious - God is sovereign.

Does the psalmist have anything to do with fulfilling God’s purpose? No.
Is God sovereign and does He get His way ALL the time? Yes. (Isaiah 55:11)
Therefore, does any Christian have anything to do with God fulfilling His purpose in their lives? No. Do ANY of God’s Elect have anything to do with God fulfilling His purpose in their lives? No.

A man may plan his course but the Lord directs his steps (Proverbs 16:9) because His purpose WILL prevail (Proverbs 19:21). God works in those He has chosen, to give them belief (Philippians 1:29) thereby making them believe (John 6:29) and act according to his good purpose (Philippians 2:13).
