Bible Truth #22 - Luke 19:10

Matthew 18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

You’ve heard this one before but maybe not by itself. God’s plan is very simple (and it IS a plan). Every person who was ever born of a human father is/was lost and headed for Hell. So the whole world is lost, right? When Jesus said He came to seek and save the lost, one of three things took place: Either He lied, He failed, or He saved all those He intended to save. I’m sure you will agree that Jesus did not lie and Jesus did not fail. He never said that He came to make salvation available. Nor did He say, “I have come to save the lost if they want to be saved.”

He saved those He intended to save, EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Just as a shepherd gives his life for his sheep, he won’t give his life for sheep in another flock nor will he give his life for the goats. Jesus came, suffered, shed His blood, was crucified, died, was buried, and rose again for HIS sheep, and not any other. He came to save HIS people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). And who is that? All those chosen in Him before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4).

Is there another way to understand those two verses? A way of which I am overlooking? If there is I invite anyone who believes in decisional salvation to please comment.
