Bible Truth #148 - Malachi 2:7-9

Malachi 2:7-9
7 “For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, and from his mouth men should seek instruction—because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty.
8 But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi,” says the LORD Almighty.
9 “So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality in matters of the law.”

Here in verse 9 God’s sovereignty is shown as He works in the children of Israel to make them think and act like He wants them to (Philippians 2:13).

The priests were not honoring God in their actions so the Lord caused them to be humiliated before all Israel. He did this by working in all Israel. Does anyone think for one minute that the people of Israel had a choice in their opinion or actions toward the priests? If you do, then you do not believe in a sovereign God. Verse 9 clearly says that God CAUSED the priests to be despised and humiliated, period. The priests did not despise and humiliate themselves, the children of Israel did and and they had no choice.

Once again I have shown how God’s sovereignty in the lives of people overrules ANY concept of the heretical idea that man has a free will. Man is a slave to sin, or he is a slave to God (Romans 6:17-18). There is no free will. I understand the Arminian believes man has free will, but he can not support it with Scripture. Showing me the many passages where God lays out choices dos NOT show man has the ability to make the right choice, the Arminian assumes it despite the many passages I show to the contrary.
